Claymation: The Ponderspruce Overnight

At High Trails, we have a variety of all day programs that kids can participate in. During this particular activity, campers had an entire day to create a film using stop motion animation. Creating one story can be a challenge when there are 11 imaginations working together, but the campers displayed cooperation and were able to make a complete story using everyone’s unique ideas. They learned how to create a story board so that they could reference their plot line as the filming progressed. Filming stop motion can be quite tedious - requiring upwards of 1,500 photos for a short 3 minute film - but they persevered through several hours of filming to create our first film for the summer 2017 season! Enjoy!

About Jessie Spehar

Jessie began her career at camp as a counselor in 2006 and returned each subsequent summer, taking on more responsibilities each year, including those of Camp Photographer and Supervisor of Canoeing and River trips. She joined the year-round team in 2013 as Marketing Director for the camps. Jessie has a B.A. in Elementary Education and an M.A. in Special Education and taught for 4 years before joining the COEC full-time staff. Stuffing M&Ms into marshmallows prior to roasting them, sitting in a canoe or her SUP board on top of the water and photographing everything are some of Jessie’s biggest joys.
