May Parent Update #3

Our summer birds are returning, the Aspen are beginning to leaf out, and wildflowers are beginning to dot the meadows. We are looking forward to welcoming our campers back to Big Spring, High Trails, and Sanborn Junior in just a few weeks.

Thank you so much for turning in your child’s forms so promptly. We realize that this is a chore and are grateful for your help. Unfortunately, you are not quite done. Colorado has just released its long-awaited guidance for camps and is requiring that you sign a form regarding our COVID-19 policies, which we have been communicating for many months via our website, in emails and on our blog.

The other new form provides permission for our nurses to administer over-the-counter and other medications to your child if needed, per the orders of our physician medical director. This form also provides permission campers to self-carry their own emergency medication (inhalers and epi-pens) if appropriate/required. Fortunately, both of these new forms just require an on-line signature.

A Few Other Notes About Forms If you have not completed your forms, and you are NOT currently waiting on an upcoming doctor’s appointment to complete them, please finalize all required forms this week.

If your child does require an immunization exemption, both medical and non-medical forms must be signed by a medical professional as well as the parent. If your child is fully immunized, you do not need to fill out or submit these forms.

We will assign Opening Day Arrival times to families beginning next week. You will receive an email from us with your assigned time.If you need a different arrival time, please call us at 719-748-3341

The UC Health My Connection Portal has been populated with camper names and information, which should allow you to request access to your child’s account.

Campers who are fully vaccinated greater than 2 weeks prior to the Opening Day of their session will NOT be subject to additional COVID testing at camp, unless deemed necessary by our medical team. COVID vaccine cards will need to be submitted in the Camp InTouch forms environment for campers who will be fully vaccinated prior to arrival at camp. The COVID vaccine will NOT be required for camp attendance in 2021. There is now a spot in the Camp InTouch forms environment to upload your Pre-Camp (within 72 hours of arrival) PCR COVID test results. Please do not load any other previous COVID test results into this form.

All outstanding paper forms (physician’s exam, immunization, medication authorization, etc.) can be uploaded via the Campanion app. If you would like to purchase this app, please do so on the Additional Options form in the Camp InTouch forms environment.

We will be sending out a more detailed testing plan as well as a video of our Opening Day procedures and processes in the next few weeks, and we will continue to share information and fun on the Campanion app.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We’ll see you soon!

Sincerely, Mark Rutberg & Ariella Rogge
