Other Unique Trips

Big Spring offers many fun all-day trips throughout each term including hikes to fantastic places like The Crags and Pancake Rocks on the west side of Pikes Peak, or a big-horn sheep viewing hike to the Mueller Ranch, a nearby state park. Boys can also choose to tour a mine and explore the history of the gold rush town of Cripple Creek or visit the Penny Arcade and natural hot springs of Manitou Springs. Those interested in astronomy will want to visit the Space Foundation Discovery Center with its interactive displays and exhibits.

Other favorite all-day trips include a hike through the Bat Caves to our neighbor, the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument to view giant petrified Sequoia stumps and 35 million year old fossils. This trip includes an opportunity to dig for your own fossils at a private site. Geologists will also be interested in the Prospecting All Day and the Gold Rush All Day.

Lumberjack All Days, Find Your Way Back All Days, and Fishing All Days are always fun. Each summer we also add several new all-day adventures to the program—who knows what this summer will bring?
