We hope you are enjoying these early November days and are looking forward to the holiday season ahead.

We are excited to share information with our camp community about a new, unique international summer learning opportunity for older teens. One of our former staff member, Himanshu Thapa (known at camp as “Thapa”), is the owner/operator of an experiential and expeditionary learning company, Beyond the Wall, based out of Dehradun, India. Thapa spent two summers at Sanborn, one as a trip leader and counselor and one as our climbing coordinator.

During his last summer at camp, in 2022, Thapa shared a presentation with some of our campers and staff that highlighted the successes of his company and his plans for the future, which included a trip specifically designed for older teens from the US. This trip would provide a on-the-ground perspective of life in the Himalaya, while taking advantage of the incredible outdoor adventures available in that region of the world.

Thapa and Beyond the Wall are excited to share that they have launched their Discover Himalayas Program and will be hosting their first course during the 2024 summer.

We hope you will take a moment to review and consider this unique opportunity to have an immersive, in-country designed, international experience.

If you want to connect with Thapa directly, please email him at

Enjoy the season!
