Hi everyone! My name is Karly and I am new to camp this year! (So excited to be on staff). This will be my first summer at camp. I just completed my third year of nursing school at Regis University, and I’m hoping to become a pediatric or ED nurse when I “grow up” (which apparently is next year… yikes!). A couple fun facts about me: I have a dog named Gus, I work in Outdoor Ed and I’m an RA at my university, and I once cartwheeled (poorly) around the entirety of my university’s quad! What I’m most excited to do at camp this summer is the camping trips! I can’t think of a better way to spend a summer night than around a campfire (hopefully there will be no fire ban), playing games and sharing laughs.

I attended Florida State University for my undergrad and then went to graduate school at Southern Utah University, before transitioning into a full-time position as a leasing and marketing manager in Indiana. I’ve spent the last two years working in corporate, before making the exciting decision to spend the summer surrounded by nature, community, and animals. I’m extremely excited to spend the summer working as a Wrangler and look forward to all the amazing riding trips I will get to lead the campers on. Some fun facts about me is that I have been a vegetarian for 15+ years, I’ve technically been stranded on an island, and I have never had soda!
Lauren Walkowski
Hi! I’m Lauren Walkowski, and this will be my first summer at Sanborn! I graduated in May from CU Boulder with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Business. I’m originally from Wisconsin, and I love to travel—I’ve been snowboarding in Japan and spent a month studying abroad in Bali last summer! When I’m not traveling, I really value my community both at home and in Boulder. This summer, I’m especially excited to spend time with the horses (I think they are the most special animals!), go camping, and meet lots of new friends.
Ridge Leaders
Anna Francis (Elementary School)
Hi everyone, my name is Anna and I am back for my fourth summer at camp! I’m originally from the great state of Ohio, but I earned my degree in Child Development from Texas Woman’s University and now call Colorado home. During the school year, I’m a 5th grade teacher in Woodland Park. When I’m not in the classroom or at camp, you can usually find me rock climbing, thru-hiking, or climbing 14ers. I’m stoked to be back for another summer of camp adventures!
Evangeline Beck (Juniors)
Hi everyone! My name is Evangeline. A couple summers ago, I worked as a counselor with the juniors, and I’m so excited to return this year as the Junior Ridge Leader. I absolutely loved working at Sanborn- being paid to be outside, be silly with kids, and go on amazing adventures truly is a dream. During the year, I’ve been working as a toddler teacher, and I’m heading back to school with the goal of becoming a kindergarten teacher. I’m especially excited to be back in a female-centered space and to help cultivate a love for the outdoors with new campers. Introducing young children (and counselors!) to how wonderful the outdoors can be is so important. The outdoors is therapy in itself- it’s always there for you and always has something to teach you.
Delaney Nigma (High School)
Hi everybody, I am Delaney Nigma! I am from Portland, OR, and this will be my third summer at Sanborn. I studied Kinesiology in college and will be attending Pacific University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program soon after camp this year. Here at Sanborn I have been a counselor for the JC’s in 2023 and in Gold Hut in 2024. I can barely contain my excitement for this summer and am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and welcoming new campers and staff. I am currently teaching youth with developmental and learning disabilities at a supplemental school program as well as working at a PT clinic. When I am not day dreaming about Summer 2026… I like to cook, go to the beach with my dog Jo, and hike with my friends. I cannot wait to see you all soon!
Inez Johnson (Middle School)
Hi everybody! My name is Inez, and I am beyond thrilled to be back for my 12th (!!!) summer at Sanborn. As a kid, camp provided me with life-changing outdoor experiences and critical space to be myself (and a whole lot of fun). When I returned as a staff member, High Trails still had plenty to teach me about authenticity and sense of purpose; through my time as a counselor, I realized I wanted to be a teacher! In May of 2025, I graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, ME with a BA in Sociology, and I now teach 11th grade English at an outdoor-based semester school along the Maine coast. Clearly, this whole learning-in-nature thing has a hold on me, and there’s no place I would rather be than the Colorado Rockies. At camp, my favorite activities include dance parties (the spontaneous and the planned), eating Snickers Ice Cream bars from the store, and climbing mountains. Florissant, CO is near and dear to my heart, but the people here are even dearer, and I can’t wait for them to literally get nearer. I can’t wait for this summer and all of the desserts, mountain vistas, and lifelong friendships. But especially the desserts.
Agnes Mortensen (Junior Counselors)
Hi! My name is Agnes, and this will be my 9th summer at Sanborn—CRAZY. I spent my first 7 years here as a camper, and I still don’t recall a better feeling than the months leading up to my favorite month of the year: the excitement, the nerves, none of these jitters have gone away now that I’m returning on staff. When I’m not in Florissant, you can find me across the Atlantic in Copenhagen, Denmark. I’ve lived there all my life and am currently studying Rhetoric at the University of Copenhagen. I love living in the city—there’s nowhere my bike can’t take me, endless concerts to go to, and most importantly, I’m close to my family. But there will always be something missing: the crisp mountain air and views that seem to stretch endlessly over the horizon, surrounded by people who share a love for pita pizza with a little trail spice. I can’t wait to experience all of that, and much, much more this summer! Besides all the camp essentials on the packing list, I’ll also be bringing my guitar, climbing harness, and Denmark’s national soccer jersey. Even though we won’t be in the World Cup, I’ll be following along closely and rooting for my fellow Scandinavians—Sweden. I feel incredibly lucky to return to a place that has given me so much, and I can’t wait to help create just as many unforgettable moments for others this summer.

Hello! My name is Maeve and this will be my first summer at Sanborn! I am from Ohio but have found my home out west! I attended The University of Akron and have a Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Supervision. I’ve been working in Outdoor Education, most recently completing a placement in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I love all things outdoors and hold a Wilderness First Responder certification. A fun fact about me is that I am a certified scuba diver! My favorite part about camp is going on out of camp trips and singing campfire songs! When I am not at camp you can find me practicing yoga, traveling, and hanging out with friends!

Whitney Pruitt (Arts and Crafts)
Howdy! I’m Whitney and I am sooooo excited to be the art coordinator this year! This is my second year on staff and fourth summer at Sanborn. I am a senior at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and I am a mixed media artist and cartoonist. I spent the spring working with the Green Star Movement in Chicago helping kiddos design and install mosaic murals at their schools. I believe that art is for everyone, regardless of skill, and I am passionate about making the art barn feel like a safe space for all Sanborn campers. This summer I am so excited to summit more mountains, to share laughs and soak up the sun. See you at the art barn!
